Caping

I just wanted to put a post up about caping.  Caping takes practice to do correctly.  Many people have questions regarding this.  I just wanted to make a post and let those who haven't caped yet know the importance of getting the cape off of the animal in a quick amount of time.  The longer the cape stays on the animal the more chance the hair will slip which will most likely lead to having to purchase another cape.  The best thing to do is bring it directly to us to cape.  If this isn't possible then give us a call and we can put you in touch with someone who knows how.  After the cape is off it needs to be rolled up with the flesh to the inside and the cape to the outside.  Place multiple bags around this and put into the freezer.  Keep it frozen and we will take it from there.  I also wanted to say that we are always looking for good capes and if you kill something that you are not going to mount take special care to keep the cape good and bring it in to us.  We will give you a credit depending on size and condition of the cape.  I hope to place a video up in the near future of us caping a deer or elk and that way you can get an idea of how it is to be done as well as the difficult areas and sensitive areas.  If you have a hunt in a few weeks please give us a call before you go if you are unsure of how to take care of the animal.  As always shoot straight and have fun.
